New AskAway Scripts

We have added some new scripts in response to suggestions from AskAwayers.

Here they are, along with some context.

Close - Left Session
I haven’t heard from you in a while, so I am going to close this session. Thanks for using AskAway, and please feel free to come back if you have further questions.

When a user has not responded for an extended period of time, this is a quick way to let them know you are ending the session and inviting them to return again.

Problem - Service Limits
This service is intended to help you find information and resources. I can assist you with your search, but cannot do research for you, or send you articles.

This script is written to address situations when users press AskAwayers to send them a specific article, and are not open to learning how to search for the article, or taking part in the process. It is aimed at users who are asking for a document delivery service. We can help them find it in the database, but they need to download it themselves.[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"532","attributes":{"class":"media-image size-medium wp-image-1143 alignright","typeof":"foaf:Image","style":"","width":"167","height":"300","title":"Qwidget Expand Button","alt":"Qwidget Expand Button"}}]]

Begin - Qwidget Database
Before we use this database, it’s important that you expand our session to a new window, so we aren’t disconnected. To do this, click the Expand button (beside the x-close button). A new window will pop up.

When a user has accessed AskAway through a Qwidget embedded in a database, and they want to perform a search in the database, they need to expand (pop-out) the Qwidget window, so they don’t lose the AskAway connection. This briefly explains how and why they need to expand the window.

Refer - Public Library
Sorry, your question is beyond the scope of the AskAway service, which is intended to help post-secondary students with their research- or course-related questions. Can I help you find contact information for your local public library?

It is up to individual AskAwayers' discretion the extent to which they help users with questions that fall outside of AskAway's scope. This script replaces one that used to lead to a list of BC public libraries.

Questions or comments? Please feel free to contact the AskAway Admin Centre.
